getting to Lekker Divers
How to get to Kuala Besut:
Kuala Besut is a small town located on the mainland. From the Kuala Besut Jetty you will catch a speedboat to Long Beach, Perhentian Islands. There are two ways to reach Kuala Besut.
By air: firstly you need to fly to Kota Bharu Airport (KBR). Airlines like Malaysia Airlines, Air Asia, and more serve this route. From the airport it is a short 45km drive to Kuala Besut Jetty. Either arrange a taxi or Grab from KBR to easily reach Kuala Besut Jetty OR let us arrange a (shared) minivan for you. Depending on traffic the drive will take about 1 hour.
By bus: Malaysia offers a good, affordable and comfortable bus infrastructure. You can reach Kuala Besut Bus Terminal from most states around Malaysia. From the Bus Terminal it’s a 10 minute walk or a 2 minute taxi ride to Kuala Besut Jetty.
Tips when planning your bus trip: make sure that the day bus arrives before the last boat leaves Kuala Besut Jetty. Otherwise you will need to spend a night in Kuala Besut and get the boat the next day. If you take the night bus, bear in mind that it arrives very early in the morning. Sometimes the shops are still closed and the first boat might not leave for another hour. However, this does mean you will be able to catch the first boat to paradise and witness the beautiful sunrise!
From Kuala Besut to Long Beach, Perhentian Kecil:
The jetty in Kuala Besut offers amenities like eateries, public washrooms, parking and budget hotels. Perhentian Trans Holidays, the boat service that we are associated with, is located just a 1 min walk from the jetty.
