Step-by-step
The PADI Open Water Course is a standard based course. Step-by-step the student will have the chance to practice and fulfill the requirements.
- Confined water sessions: Practice takes place during confined water sessions at our house reef Batu Nisan. This reef has swimming pool like conditions, perfect for beginners to get comfortable.
- Open water dives: After the confined water sessions there are 4 open water dives that need to be completed. Explore carefully chosen dive sites that have both natural beauty and educational value.
How does it differ from the PADI Open Water Course?
While both the PADI Scuba Diver and PADI Open Water courses introduce you to the world of scuba diving and therefor are entry-level courses, there are significant differences:
1. Depth limit: The primary difference is the depth limit. As a certified PADI Scuba Diver, you are limited to a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet), while a PADI Open Water Diver can dive up to 18 meters (60 feet) independently.
2. Course duration: The Scuba Diver course is shorter, typically taking two to three days, making it ideal for those with time constraints. The Open Water course is more comprehensive and typically spans three to four days.
3. Independence: PADI Scuba Divers must always dive under the supervision of a PADI professional, whereas PADI Open Water Divers have the training and certification to plan and execute dives independently with a buddy.
4. Learning curve: The Open Water course provides a more thorough understanding of dive theory and practical skills, making it a more comprehensive option for those committed to diving regularly.
Whether you choose the PADI Scuba Diver course as a quick introduction or for the PADI Open Water course for a deeper dive into the world of scuba, both options are the first steps toward a lifelong adventure beneath the waves. Whichever path you take, you’ll discover a passion that connects you to the beauty of the underwater world.
