As locals passionate about our island, we’re your go-to resource for everything beyond diving. We are happy to help you with any questions you have: from where to eat, what to do and where to stay. The owners
Dive instructor by day, fire artist by night
Kuala Lumpur is Aslam’s birthplace, but for the past decade he has embraced island life. His main goal? To make you laugh! Diving is fun and he will never let you forget that. Aslam navigates the waters around the Perhentian Islands as if it were an extension of himself. With more than 15 years of diving experience, he prides himself on his teaching above and below the surface. By combining clear and enthusiastic instructions – in both Malay and English – with a good amount of banter, he ensures a safe and fun environment where his students feel confident and entirely at ease. Aslam’s entertainment doesn’t end here. By night, he trades his fins in for fire poi, joining his team Flow Jobs as they light up Long Beach with their amazing fire performances.
Water enthusiast turned dive pro
Nicole was born and raised in The Netherlands, but permanently migrated to Malaysia in 2018. She runs Lekker Divers together with her partner Aslam. With the prospect of the ocean as her office, the step to become a dive professional was a very easy one for her. She has always been drawn to water. Before as a competition swimmer, now as an experienced dive instructor. With her calm and enthusiastic teaching style – in both Dutch and English – she ensures every diver enters and leaves the water with confidence and a big smile on their face. What drives Nicole in her teaching is passing on her passion for diving and seeing her students continuing their dive adventures all over the world.

High sustainable standards to protect our oceans
Our instructors and divemasters emphasize no touching of coral and marine life, and maintaining proper buoyancy and dive techniques to ensure the safety of the reefs and wrecks. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we organise a weekly clean-up dive. Besides removing the debris from the ocean, we also hope to create awareness. We believe that by witnessing the impact of human activity firsthand, our divers become advocates for cleaner oceans.
